The good thing about arriving at MCI (Kansas City airport) at 4:30 am is the definite lack of traffic and no guilt about not eating the free breakfast at the hotel. Dropping off Elder Aldridge for a flight to SLC, then a shuttle to the MTC (Missionary Training Center) was doubly emotional because one year ago, we dropped off his older sister for the same thing. As of now, we have two children serving full-time missions.
At the MTC:. Just before he left for Bangalore, India, Elder Aldridge enjoyed a lesson on Malaria. Again, so glad he took mosquito repellant because in 2010, the CDC reported 219 million cases worldwide. If you want to learn more about Malaria, here’s the CDC link: http://www.cdc.gov/malaria/
Although Elder Aldridge spent less than two weeks at the MTC, his time was packed with valuable experiences, including one session at the Provo Temple and an inspiring talk from Elder Richard G. Scott.
First of all, I got to hear from Richard G. Scott last night. He spoke in a devotional here. My favorite two things that he said were: “Don’t just have a good mission, have a blast!” and “To reach a goal never before attained, one must do things never before done.” He spoke a lot about how important it is to communicate with our Heavenly Father through prayer and how to recognize it when he answers us. –Elder Joseph Aldridge
